About me

Mindfulness therapist Sacramento

I’m Jennifer, a registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT #159876) practicing under the supervision of Majica Alba, MFT, ATR (LMFT #45502). I earned my graduate degree from the California Institute of Integral Studies, where I was trained in a holistic, relational, and embodied approach to psychotherapy.

I’ve walked my own healing path, so I know intimately the significance of taking those first steps. A thru-hike on the Tahoe Rim Trail served as my initiation, teaching me to listen to my body and trust my inner knowing. As I hiked the trail, I walked with different versions of myself, meeting what longed for care and finding my way home to greater aliveness. It’s now my great honor to accompany you on your trail. You don’t have to enter the wilderness alone.

My presence is characterized by warmth, compassion, and a steady, grounded energy, creating an environment that feels spacious and welcoming. I’ll listen with curiosity and humility for your quiet inner voice to show us what wants to be known, experienced, and freed.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy is an invitation toward healing, a process of returning home to yourself. You hold the wisdom and capacity needed for that process within you. My role is to walk alongside you on that journey, with deep attention to and care for your experience as you live it.

We all carry stories and beliefs about ourselves and the world, shaped by early relationships, culture, and our lived experiences, which help us adapt to our environment and world. While these adaptations we take on have their origin in helping us in some way, if they outlive their usefulness, they can start to feel harmful or limiting and disconnect us from our true selves. Healing unfolds when we turn toward these stories and beliefs as they manifest through patterns, thoughts, behaviors, emotions, and bodily sensations, with curiosity and compassion.

Together, we’ll explore how these communications show up in your body, your relationships, and your daily life, and what they teach us about your needs, desires, and authentic self. In our sessions, you can expect an exploratory pace, with gentle reflection, somatic noticing, and experiential practices.

I believe sustainable change occurs when it is felt in the body, when insight settles into a living place within you. Drawing on the wisdom of your body, your internal and external supports, and values, we’ll experiment with and explore new ways of relating to yourself and others, helping you live with more agency and alignment with who you really are.
